Summary
Some customers have reported an issue when installing LeanSentry OnPremise, which occurs when attempting to install LeanSentry with a custom service account. This is commonly done in a domain environment in order to make sure all services are running with a well-known domain account, e.g. to avoid problems with Group Policy.
When this issue is reported, the dialog prompt for service account credentials is not visible. As a result, the installation hangs without the ability to continue.
Workaround
To work around this problem, we can use alternative ways to provide the service account credentials to LeanSentry:
- Use a custom dialog instead of the Windows credential dialog.
- Provide credentials via command line prompts.
Configuring your deployment
To enable either of these, do the following:
- Go to the OnPremise portal and select your OnPremise deployment.
- Click the "Configure" tab to edit it's configuration
- Edit the "CredentialPromptMode" setting and set it to one of the following values:
Setting value | Explanation |
Custom | Displays a custom dialog. |
CommandLine | Prompts for credentials in the installer's command line window. NOTE: This setting is recommended IF the default dialog was hidden during your initial installation attempt. |
Configuring your deployment to use the CommandLine credential prompt.
Applying the update
To apply the update, re-download your OnPremise deployment AFTER applying the setting above. Then, re-run the installer to perform the update.
During the installation, you will be prompted for credentials using your selected mode. For example, when using the CommandLine mode, enter the credentials in the command line window when prompted:
